Job Overview
This role focuses on designing, optimizing, and maintaining marine-based renewable energy systems, including tidal and wave energy technologies. The position is based in Manyara, a region with significant potential for hydrokinetic energy projects. Candidates will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop scalable solutions for coastal and freshwater energy generation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement marine renewable energy systems tailored to Tanzania’s coastal and riverine environments.
- Conduct feasibility studies for tidal, wave, and hydrokinetic energy projects.
- Oversee the installation and maintenance of underwater turbines and energy capture devices.
- Collaborate with environmental scientists to ensure compliance with marine conservation regulations.
- Prepare technical reports and present findings to stakeholders and government agencies.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in marine engineering or renewable energy system design.
- Proficiency in CAD software and marine energy simulation tools.
- Strong analytical skills for assessing energy output and system efficiency.
- Knowledge of Tanzanian environmental regulations and permitting processes.
- Excellent project management and team leadership abilities.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Renewable Energy Systems. Advanced degrees (Master’s or PhD) in related fields are a plus.
Experience
3-5 years of experience in marine energy projects, with a focus on tidal or wave energy technologies. Prior work in Africa or emerging markets is preferred.
Salary
3,500,000 – 4,500,000 SSP annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
