Job Overview

The Quality Assurance Lead will spearhead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality systems for Toyota Tanzania’s manufacturing operations in Mbeya. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with ISO/TS 16949 and Toyota Production System standards.
  • Lead root‑cause analysis investigations for non‑conformities and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring timely resolution of audit findings.
  • Monitor key quality metrics, generate performance reports, and present insights to senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to enforce quality requirements and conduct supplier audits.
  • Train and mentor quality engineers, inspectors, and cross‑functional teams on best practices.
  • Oversee final vehicle inspection processes, ensuring compliance before delivery to dealerships.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects using Lean Six Sigma methodologies.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of automotive quality standards (IATF 16949, ISO 9001).
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis tools (Minitab, SPC).
  • Excellent problem‑solving and root‑cause analysis capabilities.
  • Leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Effective communication skills in English and Swahili.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and Kaizen principles.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma Green Belt are highly desirable.

Experience

A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in automotive quality assurance, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory or lead role. Experience within a multinational automotive environment is preferred.

Salary

The annual salary range for this position is SSP 1,500,000 – 2,500,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and incentives are also part of the compensation package.
