Job Overview

Merck & Co., Inc. is seeking a Regulatory Affairs Officer to lead compliance initiatives for pharmaceutical products in Tanzania. This role is critical to ensuring adherence to national and international regulatory frameworks, fostering product safety, and accelerating market approvals. The position offers a dynamic opportunity to contribute to public health while working with cutting-edge technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and interpret regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical products in Tanzania and the East African region.
  • Prepare and submit documentation for product registrations, renewals, and variations to regulatory authorities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Clinical Practices (GCP).
  • Conduct audits of manufacturing sites and quality control processes to verify regulatory adherence.
  • Represent the company in meetings with the Tanzania Food and Drug Authority (TFDA) and other stakeholders.

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical regulatory frameworks in Tanzania and the African Union.
  • Excellent analytical and documentation skills for regulatory submissions.
  • Proficiency in risk management and quality assurance methodologies.
  • Fluency in English and Swahili for stakeholder communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.

Education

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Regulatory Affairs, or a related life sciences discipline. A Master’s degree in Regulatory Science or Public Health is preferred but not mandatory.

Experience

Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in pharmaceutical regulatory affairs, with a proven track record in product registration and compliance. Experience in East African markets is highly advantageous.

Salary

This position offers a competitive salary range of 2,500,000 to 3,500,000 Tanzanian Shillings (TSH) per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
