Job Overview

The Solar Project Manager will oversee the full lifecycle of solar power projects in the Mwanza region, from feasibility studies and design to construction, commissioning, and handover. Reporting to the Head of Renewable Energy, the incumbent will coordinate cross‑functional teams, manage stakeholder relationships, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of solar PV projects ranging from 5 MW to 50 MW.
• Develop detailed project schedules, budgets, and risk mitigation plans.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, and finance teams to ensure seamless project integration.
• Manage relationships with local authorities, landowners, and community stakeholders to secure permits and foster support.
• Ensure compliance with national regulations, environmental standards, and Tanesco’s internal policies.
• Prepare regular progress reports and present updates to senior management and investors.
• Oversee contractor performance, conduct site inspections, and enforce safety protocols.
• Drive continuous improvement by incorporating lessons learned into future project designs.

Required Skills

• Strong project management expertise with proven delivery of large‑scale renewable energy projects.
• Excellent analytical and financial modeling abilities.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
• Effective communication and negotiation skills for stakeholder engagement.
• Knowledge of Tanzanian energy regulations and permitting processes.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or PMP‑Agile are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage.

Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of five years’ experience managing solar or other renewable energy projects, preferably within the African market. Experience with grid‑connected solar installations, EPC contracts, and stakeholder liaison in Tanzania or neighboring countries will be valued.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 4,000,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and a pension scheme.
