Job Overview

The Solar Project Manager will lead end‑to‑end delivery of utility‑scale solar power projects from feasibility studies through construction, commissioning, and handover. Reporting to the Head of Project Development, the role involves coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing stakeholder relationships, ensuring compliance with Tanzanian regulations, and delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, and risk registers for solar installations ranging from 10 MW to 100 MW.
  • Lead procurement processes, negotiate contracts with EPC contractors, equipment suppliers, and local service providers.
  • Coordinate with Tanzanian regulatory bodies, including the Rural Energy Agency (REA) and the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA), to secure permits and ensure compliance.
  • Oversee site assessments, environmental impact studies, and community engagement activities to secure social license to operate.
  • Monitor construction progress, conduct regular site inspections, and resolve technical or logistical issues promptly.
  • Prepare and present project performance reports to senior management and international stakeholders.
  • Implement health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards in line with Enel Group policies.
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer and capacity building for local teams and partners.

Required Skills

  • Strong project management expertise with proven ability to deliver large‑scale solar projects.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and financial modeling tools.
  • In‑depth understanding of Tanzanian energy regulations, grid interconnection standards, and permitting processes.
  • Leadership qualities with a collaborative mindset and ability to motivate cross‑functional teams.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of Swahili is an advantage.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as PMP, Prince2, or a recognized solar design qualification (e.g., NABCEP) are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of five years of hands‑on experience managing solar power projects in Africa or comparable emerging markets. Demonstrated success in delivering projects on schedule and within budget, as well as experience working with local authorities and international investors, is essential.

Salary

The competitive compensation package ranges from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 4,000,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and a pension scheme.
